The daytime catamaran across the caldera is the version built for the water: every swim stop at full temperature, snorkels working overtime, BBQ lunch off the grill, and the bar open from the first bay.
The case for daylight
Why book the Santorini catamaran day trip instead of the sunset?
Because the caldera is a swimming pool the size of a city, and this Santorini day cruise gives you the most of it. Between ten and three the sun is directly over the anchorages: Red Beach glows its full rust colour, the White Beach shallows turn glass-turquoise, and the hot springs feel like a bath inside a bath. Photographers argue for golden hour — swimmers know better.
It's also the honest family pick. Kids get daylight, calm coves and an early return; parents get a Santorini boat tour with lunch where somebody else does the grilling and the driving. And because we cast off at ten, we're anchored at the beaches before the midday fleets arrive — by the time the crowds show up, we're already eating.

Drivers collect you across Santorini — Fira, Oia, Imerovigli, Firostefani, Kamari, Perissa, Akrotiri, Megalochori — with times confirmed the evening before.

Cast off from Vlychada
Coffee and juice on the way out of the marina; the day's first bay is fifteen minutes away.

Red Beach
The longest Red Beach stop on our schedule — morning visibility for snorkelling, and the cliffs at full colour as the sun climbs.
11:15 Swim
White Beach & Mesa Pigadia
Boat-only coves under pale cliffs. This is where the jump-off-the-bow competitions tend to start.

Indian Rocks & the Venetian Lighthouse
Around Santorini's south-west point, past the sleeping profile in the rock, under the 1892 lighthouse and into the caldera.

The caldera crossing — volcano to port
Up the caldera's east side with the black lava island of Nea Kameni alongside and Fira, Firostefani and Imerovigli stacked 300 metres above. Lunch comes off the grill as the cliffs slide by, and Oia rises on the horizon just before we turn.

Volcano hot springs
Down the west side past Thirasia's cliff villages to the 30–35 °C springs at Palea Kameni. Dark swimsuit, remember.

The run home
Bows south out of the caldera, wind behind us, one last look back at the lighthouse — a straight, sunny run to Vlychada.

What to bring
- A dark swimsuit for the hot springs — sulphur and iron stain light fabrics

- Sunglasses with a strap if you have one (the bow nets claim a few pairs a season)
- A dry change of clothes for the ride home if you plan to swim until the last minute
Towels are on board. So is shade — the saloon and cockpit are covered when the sun wins.

Weather policy
If the port authority suspends sailings, you choose a full refund or a free rebooking. Morning cruises occasionally shift by an hour to dodge a wind window — we message you the evening before if so.
Kids & babies
The friendliest cruise for children: daylight, calm anchorages, kid-size vests, and food kids actually eat. Under-12s at reduced rates; infants sail free on a parent's lap.
Vegetarian, vegan or allergies
Say so when booking — halloumi or vegetable skewers, vegan mezze and gluten-free bread come off the same grill.
Can non-swimmers join?
Absolutely. Every stop is optional, vests and noodles are on board for confidence, and the swim ladder makes getting back on deck easy. Plenty of guests never leave the trampolines — that's a valid strategy.

Daytime or sunset — which swims better?
Daytime, clearly: high sun at every anchorage, the water at its warmest, and the longest swim windows on our schedule. Sunset trades some of that for the golden-hour finale — full comparison here.
How warm is the water?
About 22 °C in June rising to 25–26 °C in August–September; the hot springs sit at 30–35 °C all season. May and October are brisker but perfectly swimmable.
Will the stops be crowded?
We reach the beaches ahead of the midday fleets, and 15 guests is our hard cap — the stops are as quiet as Santorini gets in season.
Do we see Oia on this cruise?
From the water, yes — at the top of the caldera loop Oia stands on the cliffs ahead before we turn down the west side past Thirasia. We don't dock beneath it; the cruise returns to Vlychada, and honestly the view of the whole white town from mid-caldera beats craning your neck under the cliff.
